Cycling tour to commemorate the 40th anniversary of Čepkeliai Nature Reserve
A rare
opportunity to visit the part of Čepkeliai Strict Nature Reserve which is
usually unavailable for tourists: this Saturday on the 18th of July a guided
cycling tour through the Northern side of Čepkeliai reserve will be organised
by the Administration of Dzūkija National Park & Čepkeliai State Nature
Reserve to commemorate the 40th anniversary of Čepkeliai reserve's establishment. We will be traveling from Marcinkonys village to Čepkeliai‘
observational tower along the bank of the bog up until Lynežeris village next
to which there is Lynas lake perfectly suitable for swimming - at this point those
who will already be tired will have an opportunity to turn back to Marcinkonys
while the rest of the tour will head towards Povilnis riverhead reserve with a
mysterious lake shrouded by legends and also visit ethnographic Kašėtos village.
The tour
starts at 10AM in the Visitor Centre, address: Šilagėlių street 11, Marcinkonys.
Although
the weather forecast promises excellent weather, don‘t forget to take a
waterproof cloak just in case, as well as some water for drinking and snacks.
The
participation is free of charge but we will be travelling through a protected
