Everyone could make a natural wax candle in the ethnographic homestead in Dzūkija National Park. It is not as easy as it seems. You should have a lot of time and patience. At first you have to collect wax from the wild bee hives, to dissolve it
and then to hang wicks on the special wheel. Then you pour hot wax on
these wicks until the candle gets as thick as you want it to be. All
the candles made on the 2nd of February were taken to the church to be
sanctified. Lithuanians light such sanctified candles on the storm,
while lightening. It is believed that these candles help to protect from
natural disasters or illnesses.
